Spring is just around the corner and it will be here before you know it. Now is a great time to start preparing your garden bed or pots. Turn the soil in your garden, and add more if necessary. You may also sprinkle nutrients such as organic compost, manure and peat moss over the garden and “rake” it into your soil.
You will also want to decide what you will be growing and which seeds you will need. This brings us to an important topic. Which seeds are best? As large multinational companies continue to produce hybrid, GMO (genetically modified) seeds, (designed to produce food for the masses) they are stripping away nutritional content and flavor. Scientists are actually going into the seed and changing the DNA of many of the foods we eat. This is why we suggest that you buy only Organic, Heirloom, and NON-GMO seeds.
Lucky for us there are seed banks all over the world who are dedicated to keeping their seeds completely organic, pure and natural. You can look online. There are also catalogs. If there is a local organic farmer near you, you might be able to persuade them to sell you a few. 😉
Take a look at some of the web sites below that sell only organic, non-GMO, and heirloom seeds.
www.seedsavers.org is a “non profit organization dedicated to saving and sharing heirloom seeds.
www.myseedcellar.com sells the same quality seeds and they even have an “Emergency Survival 30 Pack Seed Bank kit” for under $20!
