St. Patricks Day Green Smoothie

Green smoothies are great anytime, and this recipe is perfect for any occasion. It’s even better for the ‘morning after’ the St Patrick’s day party. The banana has boatloads of potassium, which is a proven hangover helper; the kale adds essential minerals, vitamins, and fiber; and the protein-packed Greek yogurt fills you up and tastes delicious. Makes 1 smoothie (or 2 kid sized)

 

 

 

 

Ingredients

1/2 cup vanilla Almond, soy, or coconut milk

1 cup frozen Pineapple pieces

1 cup frozen Banana chunks

1 big handful fresh Kale and/or Spinach

Variations

Add a small container (about 1/2 cup) of plain Greek yogurt
Add a scoop of your favorite vanilla protein powder (not for kids)
Add 1 tablespoon of any of the following: – chia seeds – flax seeds – natural flaked coconut – peanut or almond butter
Pour milk into a blender. Add pineapple, banana, and spinach. Cover with blender lid and blend to combine. If blender stops turning, add a little more milk. The frozen fruit will make it cold but you can add a couple of extra ice cubes to make the smoothie super cold and icy. The fruit makes this smoothie sweet, but if you would like it sweeter, add a dash of stevia.
