Try Alkaline Foods to Feel Better

Did you know that eating alkaline-rich foods helps to cleanse the body by flushing out acidic wastes caused by poor diet, environmental toxins, stress, drugs and other destructive substances?

Because an alkaline state neutralizes acidity, alkaline foods promote health while helping to fight the elements that contribute to illness and dis-ease. On the pH scale, from 0 to 7 signifies acidity and from 7 to 14 signifies alkalinity.

Eating 25 % acidic foods and 75 % alkaline foods helps keep the body in optimum balance. Drink purified water throughout each day to assist the body in flushing out toxins as well as proper metabolism.

We’ve categorized some of the most popular and highest alkaline foods here:

Eating fresh, raw, organic vegetables that are high in alkaline content is the best way to enjoy their benefits. Green, leafy salads made with seeds or nuts (almonds & chestnuts) is a great way to alkalize the system. Lightly steaming vegetables is another way to keep the body at a high alkaline pH count.

Here are just some of the Alkaline-rich vegetables:

Asparagus, artichokes, beets, broccoli, brocoflower, cauliflower, cabbage, carrots, celery, chives, zucchini, cucumber, garlic, green beans, kale, lettuce, leeks, onion, radish, seaweed, spinach, sweet potato, turnips and watercress.

Eating fresh fruits is a powerful way to keep the body’s pH at a proper alkaline level when appropriately incorporated into the diet. Because most canned fruits contain preservatives and sugar, they are too acidic to be included, even if the contained fruits are categorized as alkaline. Included in the list below are some seemingly acidic fruits. According to the online site, Prevent Disease, acidic fruits such as lemons, limes, oranges, and grapefruits actually become alkaline once they are metabolized in the system.

Some of the highest alkaline fruits are:

Avocado , lemon, lime, grapefruit, mango, melon, papaya, pears, persimmons, pineapple, pomegranate, rhubarb, and tomato (fully ripe).

                                                Grains, Nuts, Seeds

Grains, nuts and seeds provide excellent nutrition and roughage in addition to enhancing a meal and contributing to its alkalinity. It’s best to buy them in small quantities to avoid rancidity.

Some of the grains, nuts and seeds that provide the highest alkalinity are: Almonds, chestnuts, cumin seeds, flax, lentils, pumpkin, sesame, and sprouts.

                                                          Baking Soda

Taking sodium bicarbonate, otherwise known as baking soda, is an excellent way to help convert an overly acidic system to alkalinity. Adding a teaspoon to purified water can help to neutralize an acidic meal.
